A Corporate Moving Guide

Relocating a business is no small task — and the movers you hire can make all the difference in how smoothly it’s executed. How do you choose the best movers to hire? What should you look for in a moving company? Step one is that you have to know what to avoid.

Why is it so useful to understand common moving risks? Think about it: When you know what characteristics are warning signs, you can rule out the companies that aren’t worth hiring. You can avoid getting tricked into trusting a business that will disappoint you.

With that in mind, here are a few examples of what to do when comparing movers for your business:

  1. Be wary of pricing that’s too cheap. If a moving company’s prices seem too good to be true, they probably are. The savings you get upfront will often come back to bite you in extra costs.
  2. Don’t accept quotes on the phone. If a moving company is giving you an honest quote, it needs to understand your business size, its facilities, what needs moved, etc. — tasks that are challenging to comprehend when talking on the phone. If you get a quote via phone, there’s a good chance it will be inaccurate.
  3. Don’t believe everything you hear. When it comes to a business deal, it pays to be cautious. Don’t assume a company is licensed without getting confirmation from the organization or agency that provided it. Don’t believe promises unless you get them in writing.
