Columbus, OH – Continental Office has been recognized in the 2024 Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America, an awards program created to honor organizations that prioritize the well-being of their employee population. Out of all the organizations who were awarded in this year’s nationwide contest, Continental Office is proud to have been named the 3rd Healthiest Ohio Employer for the size category, and the 40th Healthiest Employer overall in the United States.
These companies were recognized because of their commitment to workplace wellness and their exceptional health and benefits offerings. Even with many employers returning to the office or continuing to refine hybrid schedules, they have had to adapt their workforces to reflect the ever-changing views of the modern American office. Increased flexibility, work-life balance, and mental health resources have proven to be common trends among Healthiest Employers honorees.
“We saw some of the highest scores in program history this year,” said Haley Potoczek, Program Manager at Springbuk. “I believe this emphasizes the importance that employers play on employee health, engagement, and overall happiness. Wellness is about more than just physical activity. Employers must continue to evolve to create a positive work environment.”
Each company included on the list participated in the Healthiest Employers application process. The categories, scoring, and benchmarking were formed with the help of a national, non-biased group of representatives from the academic, medical, wellness, and business communities.
Applicants completed a thorough assessment revolving around six main categories:
- Culture and Leadership Commitment
- Foundational Components
- Strategic Planning
- Communications and Marketing
- Programming and Interventions
- Reporting and Analytics
To qualify for the national award, applicants are also scored based on an additional section called “the Healthiest 100 Workplaces in America,” which scores the applicant essays and asks additional questions related to chronic conditions and workplace health.
Full House Day always brings something special, made even better by great visit from the Veggie Van!
Since 1939, Continental Office has striven not just to create great spaces, but to empower great, healthy associates and community leaders through people-first initiatives. This year, the most notable addition at Continental Office was the implementation of "Full House Days," started in response to the ever-evolving distributed work environment post-COVID-19. The company recognized the need to maintain a sense of community and the paramount importance of culture among associates, and Full House Days (held once a month) bring all associates into the office for a day of activities, including lunch-and-learns, team training, guest speakers, and company-wide meetings. While attendance is not mandatory, the initiative has been met with enthusiasm, resulting in increased energy, communication, social interaction, and productivity.
“There’s a special energy in the air when Full House Days come around,” said Pam Blair, EVP of Associate Operations for Continental Office. “It’s not just the social element or the planned activities – it’s the togetherness, the associate unity that builds the unique culture we’ve curated for decades. Organic conversations, spontaneous collaboration, and a contagious sense of positive energy grow from one Full House Day to the next.”
Additionally, the company offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) providing mental health resources, including free and confidential counseling sessions. A second medical plan option was introduced to provide more healthcare choices. Associates are encouraged to visit their doctor annually, earning an additional floating holiday for completing a biometric screening. Associates are automatically enrolled in a 401(k) plan with options for Traditional and Roth contributions, and the company provides an immediate 50% match up to 6%. Financial education is supported through free one-on-one meetings and educational lunch-and-learns.
