The Digital Union is a free space for faculty, students and staff of The Ohio State University to collaborate on digital multimedia projects. This dynamic environment encourages experimentation and creativity by facilitating access to new media and technology for the use in teaching, learning, and research. Here users are encouraged to create trial and error experiences with technology so to offer more informed decisions regarding its use in curriculum and research.

Challenges
• Turning unused library space into a lab that embraces technology and fosters creativity.
• Creating a space that would hold up to high traffic, as well as be flexible and constantly changing with upgrades in technology.

Solutions
• Ergonomic seating, which supports 5th percentile female to 95th percentile male and up to 300 pounds.
• Adjustable height tables for flexibility and screens for privacy.
• “Classic” furniture pieces - not forgetting to embrace the old with the new.
