Project Build
Herman Miller and the A&D reps from across the country,
came together in New Orleans to work with Habitat for Humanity.
100 strong we worked for 3 days to build the foundations for
3 habitat homes in the hardest hit area, known as the 9th
ward.
We worked on the homes in what will be called Musicians Village,
these homes will help keep the musicians in New Orleans to
strengthen the tourist Industry and will help to stabilize
the city.
2nd Annual ADA Makeover
As the Overbrook’s grew older, they worried how their
autistic son William would stay in his home and provide for
him self after their passing. AIA Columbus partnered with
Creative Housing Inc. (a non-profit organization dedicated
to providing safe, accessible housing to those with disabilities)
saw this as an opportunity to help. Together with the corporate
sponsorship of Continental Office Environments, the group
of 8-10 volunteers spent 2 full days constructing an addition
to the Overbrook’s Clintonville residence. With this
addition, William will be able to remain in his home long
after his parents pass. Continental is proud to have sponsored
this event and is committed to its success for many years
to come.
Chix with Stix
Each fall, lady golfers from local A&D firms, gather at
the course for a day of golfing and making a difference. Since
it’s inauguration in 2000, Chix with Stix, an all gal
golf outing, has been raising money to benefit breast cancer
research at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard
J. Solove Research Center in Columbus Ohio. Together with
furniture manufacturer Herman Miller Inc., Continental was
one of four founding sponsors and has been extremely dedicated
to this event each year thereafter. Over the past 6 years,
proceeds from this event have raised over $100,000 for the
James Cancer Hospital and is now considered one of the hospital’s
top five contributors in it’s class.
Indiana Women’s Shelter- Julian Center
The Julian Center in Indianapolis, IN, is a unique, nonprofit
agency providing counseling, safe shelter, and education for
women and children who are survivors of domestic violence
and abuse. In a mission to bring joy to those in need, Continental
Office Environments, with help from local A&D firms and
Santa, delivers dozens of 3 foot decorated Christmas trees
to the residents each year. In November, artificial trees
are distributed to participating A&D firms for decoration.
After the design challenge, trees are judged and awards are
distributed. These beautiful and sometimes whimsical trees,
are now ready to be delivered to the Julian Center by Santa.
This small but thoughtful gesture brings light to the holidays
as these residents struggle through hard times.
